NEWS
NEW MEMBERSHIP FORMS FOR 2009
It's that time of year! SPBA members need to renew their memberships by filling out a report for 2008, and submitting member, nominal roll, and Saskatchewan non-profit registration information [SK bands only] for 2009. All forms are available HERE.
SPBA VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION
A couple of years ago the SPBA set up a system for members to nominate volunteers in various categories. In 2007, the late Gordon Findlater was nominated and voted unanimously into the "Hall of Fame" and the Board would like to have more nominations, especially in this, the 40th anniversary! Download the forms here.
SOUND ADVICE - planning for 2009.
Thanks to all students and staff for making Sound Advice 2008 a very successful camp. It was great to have a visit from the Lothians Schools Strathspey and Reel Society at the concert. What a superb addition! Dates for the 2009 school will be July 12-17, 2009.
New Saskatchewan Music Collection Released
SPBA President Iain MacDonald has released a music collection that he has been working on. It includes many tunes from local players, and also a treasure-trove of unpublished material from the late Pipe-Major Donald MacLeod, M.B.E. The book is available at www.iainmacdonaldmusic.com and will be officially launched August 13 at the Glasgow International Festival of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland.
Highland Games in Billings, MT
Congratulations to organizer Donell Small and the Yellowstone Highland Games on a very successful first event. They had great spectator turnout, a lovely venue, and just a great day all round. Hold the weekend open in 2009 for the 2nd Annual!
