The Billings Caledonian Pipes & Drums is a non-profit 501 C3 corporation. The bands mission is to preserve the legacy of piping and drumming, which although is native to the highlands of Scotland, has been alive in the greater Billings area for five generations. The band currently meets at Yellowstone Post #4 of the American Legion on Broadwater every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm and offers free piping and drumming instruction to all interested regardless of race, creed or ethnic background

Although membership is currently free, members must exhibit proficiency in their instrument and be voted into the band by a majority to receive performing privileges. Once in the band members are expected to uphold the bands image in the community in playing ability, uniformity in dress and any other ways that could affect the band. Although drums and much of the uniform is provided, each member is required to purchase certain items for their uniform, and maintain any equipment to band standards. The band currently performs in 25-30 parades, highland games, contests and community events throughout the region and Canada. A fee is usually charged depending on the nature of the event, travel required and other expenses that are incurred. The band also usually does a certain number of charitable performances (see "Hire Us" for further details). Solo pipers and drummers are also available .
