The Shining Thistle Pipe Band (STPB) was formed in 1998 in Helena, Montana to perform and promote Scottish Highland bagpipe and drum music. STPB performs in parades, festivals, celebrations and public events. The band promotes traditional Highland piping and drumming by offering instruction and special programs. The goals of the band are to:

• Establish a permanent Scottish bagpipe band based in Helena, Montana
• Provide Highland pipe and drum music for entertainment and ceremony
• Promote excellence of performance in piping and drumming; and promote Celtic culture and music
